Another fairly common bit of body language you’ll see in meetings (or anywhere people are “forced” to sit around a table and have discussions) is the “steeple”.
A person will press their hands together, with their armsĀ in front of themselves, almost like they are adopting the classic prayer posture. But with their hands not quite as tightly pressed together – in effect their arms and hands form a steeple in front of themselves.
So what does this tell us?
It would appear to be that the person adopting this pose is feeling quietly confident about the particular topic being discussed – and has probably contributed or is about to contribute (or wants to contribute) something they feel is VERY significant and relevant to the flow of the discussion or presentation they are hearing.
It is a little similar to the “catapult” pose, but in a much less arrogant way – the person may be feeling superior (in terms of knowledge or experience on the subject to hand) but is not pressing the alpha male/female buttons and trying to display dominance over the situation.

You are absolutely spot on with this. And the catapult post – this I see all the time, more than this one.
So what else is there to notice?
Did you see a ‘menta;ist’ episode on NLP – is thsi the same sort of thing?
